Chapter 1, Page 13

Woop! Looking at this page there were a few things I wanted to change at the last minute.

The beauty of drawing my pages a week or two ahead of time is that I get a lot more time to look at my pages and decide if I need to change things. It’s more relaxing, because I page doesn’t go up as soon as I’m done with it. I can give it some cool down time before looking at it again.

Also I’m still taking commissions. It’d be nice to get some but even if you can’t, tell your friends and stuff ha ha.

And if not tell people about the comic! I should probably do some advertising or something. I put up a project wonderful ad on Nedroid for a few days but that’s it. Ha ha.

I think once chapter 1 is finished I’ll be more intense with advertising etc. Right now with only 13 pages it’s still hard for people to tell what this comic is all about/where it’s going.

I pimped you on by DD page already.

    Great page!

  2. Sinity says:

I love your style of art. It’s like, simple, and detailed at the same time….
Wow, I hope that made sense.
Anyways, love the comic I look foward to seeing more!

    • Ashwara says:

That makes plenty sense! I actually had one other person say the same thing and was surprised. “Me, detailed?” Ha ha. I appreciate it though!

  3. yksesh says:

Wow, you are that ahead? Somehow, it makes sense, your comic always feels very calm. How much time does a page take, if you don’t mind me asking? (Also, nice page as always. :) )

    • Ashwara says:

Ha ha yeah. I’m like two weeks ahead maybe? I just finished page 18 yesterday and I’m half done with 19. It stinks because I finish a page and want to show everyone but I can’t for weeks.

I’m not really sure how long it takes but I know I could do one or two pages a day if I didn’t slack. I’d say it depends on the page. Some pages could take only maybe 2 hours while others could take 4-5. It helps that I did all my thumbnails and script out ahead of time, so I only have to think about making the page look nice. Ha ha.

      • yksesh says:

:D I can imagine that. But it’s better then being rushed, I guess.

Wow, you really have everything planned out? How long have you been doing this project? (Again, if you don’t mind my asking. :) )

        • Ashwara says:

Well the comic itself I was working on for years, but i actually decided to rewrite everything last November. I had another site actually, got up to around 60/70 pages, and then stopped. The plot wasn’t working so I just stopped, scrapped a lot of things, and restarted.

So basically from December until march or so I was writing and thumbnail to make sure everything worked and I didn’t want to restart again. Ha ha.

          • yksesh says:

That is a lot of time! Amazing! Many people would have given up on it long ago. I hope it works out this time. :)

  4. HenrikeD says:

Love the comic thus far. The characters look really nice and I love the nice calm colours.

One web-thing though: for some reason the back button doesn`t show up at the most recent page, I can only go to the beginning. :)

    • Ashwara says:

I know! I have the code in there for it, but for some reason it doesn’t show up. There are still a lot of things i want to add to the site, like a proper archive, I just don’t know how to do it.

On every page there’s supposed to be a first, previous, next, and last button.

  5. Snack says:

    ohohoho! The Plot Thickens!

Also, I am rather enjoying the insides of this building, you are rocking the lighting in this house. *thumbs up*

Can’t wait to see the next chapter!

    • Ashwara says:

      Ha ha ha. Indeed.

Glad you think the interior looks good! I did a lot of practice on them, because in the old version of para-ten I was really lazy and interiors ended up looking like caves more than houses. Ha ha.

  6. Coestar says:

Digging the comic, Ashwara! Let me know if there’s anything I can help with. :)

    • Ashwara says:

Thanks a lot! Glad you like it.

That reminds me! If you have time, do you think you could check out the code for a few things? Mainly the navigational links. Each page is, ideally, supposed to have “first, previous, next, last” navigational buttons. For some reason though they aren’t showing up. If you have any theories or solutions I’d be happy to hear them!

Matt’ll know the admin password if you need it.

      • Coestar says:

Woops, sorry… didn’t see your reply until just now. :S I guess it doesn’t send an e-mail or anything.

I will take a peek at some point tonight or tomorrow and see if I can fix that for you. :)

      • Coestar says:

Ok, I got it all fixed, I think.

I know you said that it should have the [first, previous, next, latest] on EACH page, but it doesn’t wanna do that. ComicPress wants to hide the links that it thinks are “irrelevant” to functionality. I figured that you want them to be there always so that it frames the top/bottom of the comic, right?

So, to fix that problem, I made a background image and applied that to the navigation container. Is that ok?

        • Ashwara says:

Ah, that’s awesome! Yes, that works fine. I was wondering how to combat that problem myself but this is a good solution.

          Thanks a lot! It’s much appreciated. =D
