Well it's inspired by yokai but not a specific one. The character isn't supposed to be a real character but it's a variation of "mu" meaning "nothing" [based on the katakana, not hiragana or kanji]. I definitely take the Ghibli feel as a compliment! They're one of my biggest inspirations, with their ability to create very entertaining stories that are also visually beautiful and thematically meaningful. =D Ha ha!
